1. Who we are

WorldOVR (worldovr.com) is a small, independent project run by an individual in Brighton, United Kingdom, who is the data controller for this site. It gives players one rating across the games they play, using their real ranks. Contact: stmarko79@gmail.com.

WorldOVR is for people aged 13 and over. If you believe a child under 13 has created a profile, contact us and we will delete it.

2. What data we capture, and how

We only capture data in these ways:

• When you create a card: the nickname you choose (we ask you not to use your real name) and, optionally, your country. You also confirm you are 13 or over.
• When you link a game account: you sign in on the game or platform's own website (Steam, Epic Games, Lichess, osu!, BeatLeader or Discord) and that service tells us your account ID (and, for some, your display name). We never see or receive your password. For Chess.com and Geometry Dash, you prove the account is yours by temporarily placing a one-off code on your own public profile, which we read.
• From the games' public data: using the account IDs above, we read your ranks and game statistics (for example your Lichess rating, osu! global rank, or Fortnite wins and K/D) from each game's data services.
• If you choose to add an email: your email address, and whether you ticked the box for occasional update emails. If you join the "tell me when my game is added" list, your email and the games you picked.
• Leagues: the leagues you create or join.
• In your browser: a token stored in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in to your own card, and, if you arrived through a tagged link, which link that was. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
• Visit counts: numbers only (for example "48 visitors today"). To count each visitor once per day we briefly combine your IP address and browser type into a one-way code that is held in memory only, never stored, and discarded daily.

We do not capture your real name, date of birth, phone number, postal address, passwords, payment details, contacts, friends lists or messages.

3. How we use it

• To show your card, your WorldOVR rating and your place on the worldwide, country and league leaderboards.
• To check your ranks again every few hours so your rating stays up to date.
• To prove that each linked game account belongs to you, and that no account is linked to two cards.
• To email you sign-in links, and update emails only if you ticked the box or joined the notify list.
• To understand, in total numbers only, how the site is used (visits, sign-ups, shares) so we can improve it.

We use your data because it is needed to provide the service you asked for (our legitimate interests), and for update emails, because you consented. We do not use your data for advertising, profiling or automated decisions about you beyond calculating your rating.

4. Who we share it with

We never sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

• Other visitors can see your nickname, country, WorldOVR rating, game ranks and leaderboard position, and your card if you share it. Nobody else can see which accounts you've linked or your email.
• Game data services: to look up your rank we send your account ID or username to the service for that game: Valve/Steam and OpenDota (Dota 2), ScoreSaber and BeatLeader (Beat Saber), Epic Games and fortnite-api.com (Fortnite), Lichess and Chess.com (chess), osu! (all osu! modes), TETR.IO, GDBrowser (Geometry Dash), and Mojang and Hypixel (Minecraft). Discord is used only to confirm an account matches.
• Service providers who run the site for us: Railway (hosting and storage) and Resend (sending emails). They process data only to provide those services.
• If required by law, for example a valid legal request.

Our hosting provider may store data outside the UK, with the safeguards required by UK data protection law.

5. How long we keep it

• Your card (nickname, country, linked account IDs, ranks and rating history) is kept until you delete it. Deleting it removes it straight away.
• Unlinking a game deletes that account's ID and ranks from your card straight away.
• Your email is kept until you remove it from your card, unsubscribe, or delete your card. Sign-in and confirmation links expire after a short time and can only be used once.
• Ownership codes for Chess.com and Geometry Dash expire after 48 hours.
• Server logs (which contain nicknames, not emails or passwords) are kept by our host for up to 7 days.
• Visit counts are kept as anonymous daily totals.

6. Your rights and choices

• Delete everything at any time: My card → Edit profile → Delete my profile.
• Unlink any game, or remove your email, from your card.
• Unsubscribe from update emails using the link in any email.
• Ask us what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by contacting stmarko79@gmail.com. Under UK data protection law you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

7. Changes

If we change this policy we will update this page and the date below.
